Day 9 complete
Website May 11th, 2008Day 9 was tough. Hot weather and some big hills. Started off at a good pace and met Katie and her parents along the way for some excellent food breaks. Then crossed into the Lakes and unsuprisingly the hills turned alot nastier! The scenery was beautiful though, we had both been really looking forward to making it to the Lakes. The last climb of the day was Kirkstone pass up to 1500ft, followed by a lovely 5 mile downhill into Patterdale! Just had a fantastic meal with ours and Katie’s family and i think it’ll be early to bed. 87 miles tomorrow and into Scotland…

We’re so impressed by you both. It’s not until you zoom out on the map that you see how epic your trip is. Keep it up and we’ll see you soon.

I’ve just logged on for the first time since Friday and although you had two relatively short days you seem to have made massive progress again.
Congratulations to you both. Have you got an address I can send some hairy bar-snacks too (if Kirstie and I don’t eat them first!).
Olivia says “Goo, ga, ga, ack, ack” which I think means “good luck, quack, quack”…if she’s comparing you to ducks you must be doing well!

Was watching your progress yesterday - looks like you found somewhere nice for lunch. A bet Kirkstone was a bit of a toughie!!
Keep up the good work, with much love to you both xxx

It was great to catch up with you today. To those reading this blog, David and Chris’s calorie intake (helped along with fillet steak and Tuna) is huge so beware when you offer them food AFTER they have been cycling. Well done to Gail and Martin for feeding them along the way. A great effort, boys, and Kirkstone pass really is nasty (had to change down to 2nd gear).
