Despite the crazy freakish weather this weekend David and I braved the elements and got a sizable training run in, at the same time successfully tested the cold weather gear! Just got the feeling back in the fingers so all ok! Hopefully the weather in May will be a bit warmer…

Half way there (sponsorship, not mileage)!!

With just over one month to go before we begin our journey north we have passed the halfway mark with our sponsorship efforts. As of today, the total raised is £2,591.

We are very grateful to all those people who have kindly donated already but there is still some way to go to achieving our target of £5,000 for Epilepsy Bereaved.  If you have not yet sponsored us, we would urge you to visit www.justgiving.com/goldsmithsbikebritain and donate online. It is a very simple process and for a very worthy cause (browse our website for more information).

We are both training daily and will be cycling together every weekend (except one) until we depart on the 3rd May. Your support helps make this trip even more worth while so please SPONSOR US NOW!!!

Thanks for your help.

David & Chris

It’s all go!!!

Training Ride

On Saturday 9th February, Chris and I did our first long training ride together with the bike fully kitted out as they will be on the actual ride. We did a 55 mile circular route through the Hampshire countryside and as you can see from the photo, we were lucky with the weather!

The ride took us a total of 5 hours including stops for food and photos; it has made us realise just how much food and drink we will have to carry to see us through just one day, let alone fifteen days.

This ride marked the completion of the website (although it will continue to be updated) and a real ramp up in our training regime. It’s now only three months away and I’m sure that will fly by.

Regular updates will now be posted to the site to let you know how the training and fund raising is going. Keep checking back and please sponsor us if you haven’t already!

On the Water

Chris on Frensham LakeHaven’t managed to get on the bike this week so far due to commitments but we did get out on the water which is exercise in itself! It was a fantastic evening on Tuesday staying out on the water till gone 9pm and still the wind blew. See the photo of Chris out in the boat…you can just about make him out!

Got to start somewhere…
