Through the support of several companies it has been possible for us to have two satellite tracking beacons, one fitted to each bike. One system uses the Iridium network (click here for information) and the other uses the Argos network (click here for information).

We plan to start the ride at approximately 2pm on Saturday 3rd May to head for our first nights stop in Portreath. Although the tracking systems are currently up and running, there will be nothing to view until we have actually started.

Iridium System

The Iridium system updates our position every 15 minutes so you really will know where we are in near real time…no sneaking off to the pub for us then! Our position is plotted onto Google Maps showing satellite imagery with road overlays.

Argos System

The Argos system updates approximately every 1 to 2 hours and will default to show the latest position.

To log in you need the Username and Password (in CAPITALS):

Username: GOLDSMITH         Password: BRITOUR

The buttons along the base of the mapping window allow you to zoom in and out, pan, and measure distances etc.

In the top left of the mapping window, by clicking on ‘Time Period’, you can change from viewing just the last position to any time period you wish.

For those of you with the Google Earth program installed on your computer already, you will also see a button at the bottom of the ‘Time Period’ box to ‘Download (Google Earth)’. When you click on this button Google Earth is automatically started and the data selected displayed.

To login please click here, remembering the Username and Password in capitals above.

HAPPY TRACKING!!!
